When I was applying for different kind of jobs (manufacturing, warehouse) where I had more than 15 years experience, I was offer a position as caregiver of a lovely 90 years old lady, we got along since the first moment and became her part time cg. I found out that I have that special touch so much needed when working with elderly. I treat them with respect. I know it must not be easy losing your independence and if at home, seeing "strangers" coming into your house and practically take control over your stuf. That's why I like asking them (when posible) how they like things being done in their house.
I am loving, kind, dependable, flexible, passionate, nurturing, have lots of patience, and punctual. I became a caregiver because of my grandparents. I really enjoyed taking care of them, spending time with them, and listening to their life stories. That's when I found out that the elderly are filled with soo much wisdom. I learn a lot from them. A personal achievement that I am proud of is that I am licensed by the Department of Social Services Home Care Bureau of Sacramento. My home care aide license number is # 7503093833

I first learned that I enjoyed patient-care back when I was a medical assistant in a private practice. I enjoyed learning and caring for others. I became a personal caregiver in 2005, and since then I have been able to assist many individuals and their families. I have found that my love for patient care today is done at a more personal level because every individual that I have assisted has their own personal needs; some need help with recovery, while others just need comforting and care through their aging process. By assisting patients in their home, to keep their routines, help them with medications, or just the in the simple act of being a good listener, I have found makes the world of difference to them--I am happy to have made a difference in someone's life. I am very proud of being a professional caregiver. Care-giving is an occupation which I have chosen and in many ways it has chosen me. My life has been influence by the many fine people of which I have had the privilege of knowing and providing care. Many of these individuals gave me the greatest gift that one can receive- their knowledge and experiences. I have a little more understanding of life and history as seen through their eyes. It has been a privileged to care and provide comfort.
