My major objective for becoming a caregiver is to make a difference in people's lives. People need a doctor to diagnose and treat their diseases and ailments, they need a nurse to administer medication and treatment when they are sick. However, at all times they need a caregiver to listen to them, attend to their everyday needs and treat them with compassion. That is where I come in. What I like about being a caregiver is that it affords me the opportunity to use what I have, the skill, knowledge, experience coupled with love, honesty and integrity to help people in need. One personal achievement I am proud of is the completion of the NRCPT Phlebotomy Technician's certificate and yet, rather than sit down to do venipuncture, I chose to do what I like most--care for people. I have worked in various aspects of the healthcare system. Overseas, I worked as pharmacy technician, medical assistant and nursing assistant for eight years. Here in the United States I have taken care of different kinds of patients especially the geriatric population and those with Alzheimer's disease as a professional certified by the Alzheimer's Foundation of America. I am very reliable, dependable and both a team player and team leader. I do my job with integrity and honesty. Moreover, I take the job personal in that I view the patient as if he/she was my father/grandfather, mother/grandmother, uncle/aunty.

Ive been described by employers are a compassionate, hard working, caring and trustworthy individual with a passion for working with the elderly and disabled. With over 18 years experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant, working in major hospitals in varying specialties, I've now focused my skills and expertise on one on one care.
I have a passion for what I do because I believe its my mission to care for others. I have been certified since 1990 and I still enjoy working with elderly clients. I watched my aunt care for my paralyzed uncle at home and I wanted to do the same for others one day. I have worked in skilled nursing, assisted living, independent living, memory care as well as done home health. I enjoy being that hands on person who jump start the day for my clients. The person they look forward to caring for them and being a companion. I like being needed and depended on. I am proud that even though I am a caregiver I am also a Certified Activity Director, so I am able to do all of the daily ADL's as well as keep my clients active and engaged in various activities that are stimulating, reflects their interests and values but mostly improves quality living.
What makes me a great caregiver is the passion i have to care for people especially the old, so that they won't feel neglected and abandoned. I became a caregiver because since my late grandmother was sick and was taken to the hospital, her needs were not met to accordingly and each time she needed a nurse attention, they will always take long to come attend to her, to the point where she needed oxygen I rushed to call for the nurse but she took all her time to come and i washed my grandmother gasp for air and finally died. Since that day i said to myself, I'm going to be a nurse in future so that I can come to those in need and save life. I am proud of myself because of how far i have gone to achieve my dreams as to become a nurse even though, I am still taking my prerequisites before getting into the main nursing program, God being my helper.
I am a compassionate person who enjoy helping others. I'm a registered CNA with CPR/BLS and EKG training. I have over 15 years of experience with the elderly and disabled. After many years of working in a Hospital Business Office by day and caring for a family member at night, I decided to become a Caregiver to others. I know first hand what it is like to need assistance with the care of a loved one and realizing that you can't be there 24 hrs a day. The uncertainty of trusting someone else to do it for you can cause anxiety. I promise you that I will treat your loved one with kindness, dignity and respect, the same way I would like my loved ones to be treated. This isn't just a job for me, it is a ministry and a passion.
