I, Shonita Badillo became a caregiver because I love working with the elderly and, sick. Caregiving has always been my passion because, when I was a teenager I cared for my grandmother. I enjoy being a caregiver because, it gives me joy to see a smile on my clients face, and, also I feel I can bring a lot to their life such as understanding patience and, compassion. I feel I have achieved experience over the last 15 years. As I continue to work as a caregiver I feel more confident that I know my job and, that I can relate to my clients better. I have 15 years of experience as a certified nursing assistant. I have worked in a hospitals nursing homes and, private homes. My future plans is to futher my nursing experience. I hope to find a nice family to work for because I feel I have a lot to bring to a patients life. My availability is working days part time or fulltime.

I love working with and helping others in need. I enjoy listening to people and I'm great at multitasking. I mostly enjoy companionship being a caregiver.

I have always been passionate about making the lives of those I care for owing to my experience in clinical practice as a an LVN/LPN licensed Nurse and a volunteering work in healthcare in which I have managed the aged and elderly and built a wonderful relationship with them which has helped the outcome of daily living, much improved. Owing to this experience, its been my passion to continue on such opportunities to provide quality care for my clients to make their lives much better.

I was attracted to this job because it's very similar to what I wanted to go to school for; which was nursing. I later changed my major to speech language pathology and I love it! I am a very patient and attentive person. The most rewarding and precious thing we all have is our time and devotion. My goal as a caregiver is to empower as well as, revive a sense of personal independence. Building self esteem and administering a heavy dose of reassurance, are my strong points. I am a Medical Assistant, I have been a Cosmetologist for over twenty years, so I have a great bedside manner. I am a Christian. As a caregiver, I empower the weak to feel strong and allow them to have as much choice in their own lives as possible.

I consider myself blessed to have a connection with the elderly. When I was a 14 yrs old had the most amazing bond with the 93 year old mother of our church and I will never forget her. I personally feel responsible for the helpless ; I didn't know I needed a reason why. However, I have realized it's not for everyone. I take pride in the connection and the ability to bond with a person in need of understanding and compassion. I now consider it a gift and I am humbly grateful.

I really enjoy helping the patient comfortable in their own space. My grandfather and the way he was treated in a nursing home. He just wanted to be at his home. Helping my patient feel comfortable and relaxed. Letting him or her tell stories about the past,love,kids, what it was like in the old days. Being there for them when they need me most. Making them feel useful and they do matter

The reason I became a caregiver is because when I was younger I took care of my grandmother and feel in love with the fact me taking care of someone with a passionate heart like mines. What I like most about being a caregiver is I love helping people. My personal achievement I'm proud of is that if I put a smile on my clients face my job has been done. As long as they are happy I'm happy. I have always loved taking care of people since I was young, I took care of my elderly grand mom and then my mom when they were sick. That was one of the things that motivated me into nursing and have never looked back, that Taking care of people is what I love doing.
