If I have any kind of developmental disability or I have become aged, weak or sick and need support, what sort of person would I like to take care of me? That is the kind of person I am. I have a lot of compassion and Love to offer. I'm patient and kind; I would do anything to make sure that the person I'm taking care of is comfortable and happy. I pride my self on being able to quickly learn and adapt to any situation. In the past, i have assisted clients with there activities of daily living such as bathing, toileting, home exercise, taking vital signs, and maintained a clean household. I try to connect with my client spending time with them, going for a walk and driving to shopping and appointments. Sometime I assisted with laundry, cooking and house keeping depending on what the client ask.

I began caregiving because growing up, I had a parent that looked to me for support. That stuck with me and really let me see how much my help supported another person to live their life more fully. I enjoy getting to know new people and know everyone has a story. I like to use my abilities;as small as they may seem to me, may be a larger help to someone else sometimes.If I could work and bring my cat with me that would be great. I feel working with mentally disabled individuals and other illnesses has opened my eyes to how amazing people can be and how much they can shine with just a great support team. I feel my clients help me just as much as I help them. Very loving and full of compassion. I have worked with one to one care and also with retirement and assisted living with memory care for almost a year.

I started of in the caregiving field with taking care of my grandfather. In the process I got to learn a lot and I did enjoy doing it. I once had a client who had dementia (late stage), who did not want to go to bed (it was late at night). One thing that the client enjoyed was watching animal documentaries . I showed the client pictures of different animals that I had taken when I went to Kenya and the client calmed down and I was able to redirect the client to bed. My patience with the client helped me assure the client that I was on her side. This scenario really made me proud of the caregiver that I'm becoming. I love what I do.

I being the first born in my family have done a lot of care in different areas. I was taught by my parents how to love,give attachment, attention, protection and help regardless the kind of situation. I've always been trying to help the elderly back home in severe cases and have been doing this out of my heart I was also a teacher and a counselor back home and this helped me very much to know how I can chip in and give some care I'm always happy when I see someone out of danger and is having some peace.
