I am a responsible, dependable, compassionate , and hardworking individual. I hold a strong work ethic and always strive to do my best in any work situation. In my professional career I have always focused on direct patient care and supporting the integrity, dignity, and privacy of my patients. My attributes in patient care include: feeding, toileting, bathing, ADLs, grooming, diabetes accu check, ambulating, transferring, hoyer lifts, positioning/repositioning, non-ambulatory care, stroke deficits, dementia, post surgery care, providing clean and safe environment. I was a Librarian back in the Philippines but when I came to the US in 2006, my friend encouraged me to try working with the elderly as a caregiver. Since then, I have been working as a caregiver and I developed the love and passion in taking care of the elderly. I had experienced.taking care.of elderly with different health issues such as Alzheimers, Dementia, diabetis, heart diseases (ie. CHF), Lung or respiratory disease, Stroke, non-ambulatory, bed bound elderly, etc. I assist them with their activities of daily living, prepare meals, laundry, do light housekeeping, medication reminder, assist with their errands and there were some elderly who asked me to organize their bills, do grocery and run other errands for them. I was not only a caregiver.but also a personal assistant. I am proud of being a caregiver because I know I make a difference in the lives of the elderly and I become part of the last journey of their lives.
My nationality is Filipino, married, with 4 grown up children and 12 grandchildren who live in the Philippines.
I have always enjoyed waiting on, taking care of, and the company of the elderly, I also like lightening the load of the family.
The things that I like about being a Caregiver, is the personal satisfaction I get out of being where I'm needed and receiving so many letters of appreciation from so many families, and office staff.
I am a very loving 61-year-old CNA/Home Health Aide (10 years), Caregiver, Companion/Sitter, with 26 years of Home Healthcare under my belt. I am empathetic, full of compassion, kind and have (so I've been told), possess a wonderful sense of humor. I enjoy being helpful and have loads of energy, which helps a lot, considering I love to stay busy. I am computer savvy, and can perform certain duties online. My client's and their families become very comfortable around and with me. They soon realize that I enjoy challenges, and I have a great working relationship with other members of the medical team. I am a great cook, and have so much experience in the home healthcare field, that I can handle pretty much anything that comes my way. All in all, myself, and others that matter, believe that this is my niche in life; and I am excellent at it. Proficient in Alzheimer's/Dementia, Cancer, Hospice, and Incontinent Care. I specialize in couples. General Housekeeping and laundry provided, depending on the case. I started my journey as a home care aide, with experience I worked my way into a nurse delegated CNA position. I love every minute of it. I enjoy building a relationship with the people I work with, my main priority is to provide quality compassionate care. I think what makes me a great caregiver is my attentiveness to my clients, I listen to my clients, I'm there for my clients, my clients needs and changes are my concern. When it comes to the health and well being of my clients, I want to make sure that they are doing well, emotionally and physically.
What do I enjoy most about being a caregiver? I enjoy the interaction, i get to be in the presence of so many wonderful people who have stories to tell. It might sound cliche but I genuinely love knowing that i can help another person in this world, so that is exactly what i do.
I'm proud to be continuing my nursing education at Loyola University in Chicago, granting me a BSN degree come May 20'.
My 13 years experience in caring and assisting people who can't do for themselves. My characters (trustworthy, reliable, responsible, accountable, caring) shows me with so much compassion for the people I serve makes me a great Caregiver/Personal Assistant/CNA.
I became a CNA/Caregiver/Personal Assistant because I enjoy taking care of people who have lost their ability to handle their basic needs.
I like being a CNA/Cargiver/Personal Assistant cause I take comfort in knowing that I make people comfortable as possible, put a smile on their face, and help improve the quality of life for them during what can be a trying time in their life.
One personal achievement I am proud of is being the main role, for 6 years, in helping a man regains a positive outlook on/for his life after suffering a Stroke that left him with paralized on his right side, wheel chair bound, and told that he would never walk again. I committed myself to be his leaning tower(Personal Assistant/Caregiver). After 5 years of going to Physical and Occupational therapies 3 times a week with him, learning the exercises, then assisting him with these exercises in his home.he is no longer wheel chair bound, he walks 2 miles a day , he drive his vehicle, he's continues exercising in a gym, and he's no longer depress about his ability but encourage others living with a disability.
