I became a CAREGIVER because I have a natural instinct to help others. I feel that it's a "Calling". And I thoroughly enjoy working with the elderly, and hearing their stores. A personal achievement that I am proud of is being recognized with a Heart N Hands Award for my service to my elderly clients. I moved from California to Tennessee in 2003. After working in a Distribution Center for almost 2 years, I became a CAREGIVER and have been employed as such for over 10 years. I have an outgoing personality and get along well with others. I have always had a desire for helping people especially the elderly. It's been a very rewarding career choice that I have always enjoyed doing. My sister had many health problems in which; I encouraged her through daily functions similar to what she would do at home, helped with her transition from home to nursing home. I retired in 2014. I loved my job and my patients, but the drive to and from Nashville became so time consuming on top of a 10 hour day. I volunteer at the hospital because I really enjoy helping patients and missed being in the medical field. I received an award at my job for being an outstanding caregiver. 1 thing that attracted me to be a caregiver is just the thought of helping others & putting a smile on their face I really enjoy it. I started my career at NHC working in memory care & I loved it there the residents I had were so sweet. It was a tough job at times but I enjoyed it for the most part. I recently switched over to home care & I love this even more especially getting to go run errands with my clients & enjoying the day & sitting & talking to them & finding out things they like to do & how they grew up.
