I am a 41 year old female. I have 4 children. My youngest was born in 2002 and was my inspiration for becoming a caregiver. He was born with a couple of syndromes and lots of medical challenges. This I became very good at taking care of him. Was a natural caretaker when I was growing up as I was told from family members and friends. This situation made me want to become a professional caregiver and has allowed me to be able to see some of the most common medical equipment and machinery that is used these days. It has tought me a lot.

I am a dependable, well organized, energetic, caring and loving person who has a passion for taking care of others. I have experience with the elderly mainly from caring for my own grandparents the last seven years of their lives. My grandfather suffered from Alzheimer's and dementia. My grandmother had suffered a stroke and had cancer. Caring for them is where my passion for taking care of the elderly began. But I have always had a passion for helping in general. I have cared for the mentally and physically disabled as well. I have my associates degree in Health and Human Services now and look forward to continuing to help others as I utilize my new knowledge.

Since the young age of 18. I have always love the elderly. I started out in a nursing home and completed my CNA cert which unfortunately is expired cause i let it elapse. I have worked in the health field since 1997 and in 2006 started driving a bus along with doing home healthcare. I tell everyone that i love old people and children everyone else in between is a case by case basis. Its a joke well kinda lol. I believe it takes someone special to be a care giver.

I have over 10 years experience. I am current on my CPR first aid, level one medication aide. I have worked in various areas of the health care field. Starting out with working with adults with different abilities, to Dr's office, hospitals, down to end of life care. I absolutely love working in the home setting because it's more personable. Im a very firm believer in treating others the way you want to be treated. With that being said your loved one will be treated as one of my family members. I have always found myself happiest when in service of others. I served in the USMC 2001-2005, and after an Honorable Discharge, I have worked with several Emergency Medical Providers, to include Hospital and Fire Departments. I am well versed with Emergency procedures, but also the finer, personable and more gentle aspects of health care. I am very outgoing, and can strike up conversation with all ages in a respectful manner. In my 10+ years in an ambulance, I have found that easing ones worries with reassurance, and joyful conversation is the best way to alleviate a lot stress...and stress is a major role player in many patient symptoms. I have a knack for feeling out the personality/background of a person, and adapting my actions and communication to have a more productive relationship. I am married with 4 beautiful children, and my Wife is also in the healthcare field. We go to a small town Church, and live in a somewhat rural area. I also have 7 years as a skilled tradesman, so I am no stranger to fixing/repairing small to large projects, if they were to be encountered. My experience as a Father and Firefighter has given me skills in the kitchen preparing meals of all kinds. I am capable of lifting and moving large people with proper/safe techniques. I can relax with the best of them (reading aloud, watching TV, board games, chatting), but am able to be active for long periods of time without fatigue. My wife and I have both been the "go-to" people in our family for our Elders, as we have played an active role in their care-taking during their final years. My experience in the Emergency setting has given me instinct to interpret peoples signs and symptoms before they turn dire. If anything were to happen while I am a caregiver, I know exactly what to do while awaiting additional help. I have never been reprimanded or fired from any job.
