As a caregiver I would seek to give your friend or loved one the best care in my ability, help them out with the daily tasks needed, and provide loving companionship to bring as much joy to their day as I can. Being in the hair industry for a long time , I am a very caring person, you have too,,,it's not just all about your hair! No I haven't gone to nursing school, but I have common sense and love to help and take care of people. I have raised 3 boys, 1 daughter who passed in 1994. My oldest son has special needs, autistic. so I know the ends and outs of someone needing assistance and help on a daily basis! My mother passed when I was young with lung cancer, so I dealt with that, my father was a heart patient..both my grandmothers had something with them as well...so I have basically been raised into taking care of people, as sad as that sounds. Honestly, I wouldn't know what to do if I wasn't "helping" someone with something or someone!

I started off in the business almost 10 years ago helping my mom with clients yardwork and chores and transportation. A little more than 7 years ago I began helping a man with arthritis. I helped him get his day going, straightened up and returned in the evening to put him to bed. I did rehab work in the afternoons. It keeps you on the go, and the days go quickly, which I like. I don't like just putting in hours with clients, I like doing things with them. I was a sales manager for 5 years but this work much more rewarding. People truly appreciate it when you help them. I like make life more manageable or improvements in their health, its good work. I have a lot of experience with gait belts. My use of this is easily my best contribution to the client. I have prevented dozens of falls, and that is something to hang your hat on. No one falls with me.

My top personality traits that help me be a great caregiver, is my level of patience, communication skills, and the simple fact that I genuinely care about the people that I work with. Even though it is a job I see it as an opportunity to learn new things, and gain new perspectives on life. I worked for comprehensive health care, and have loved it sense. My mother is a CNA and works in home health care, she helped me get into this line of work. I was afraid at first but I began to truly enjoy helping others, I love hearing their story's and giving them companionship. Recently, one lady I was taking care of passed away and you never know how much of an impact they have on you until that happens. It really opened up my mind and heart working with the elderly, I personally am proud of just being able to make people happy.

I'm a very hardworking person and I have a big heart so when it comes to helping people I feel as tho I'm a good person to rely on. I enjoy putting a smile and making life easier for people who cannot do most things independently.

I like to help other. I have 5 children. I like for people to be able to stay in there homes as long as possible. I love hearing stories about people.
