Hello, I have been a Certified Nursing Assistant for 20 years. I've always had a passion for caring for those who may be in need of healthcare services and assistance with maintaining dignity and as much as independence as possible. I am CPR certified, up to date on all vaccinations including COVID. I have experience with several areas of healthcare ranging from acute hospital, nursing home, hospice, disabilities and special needs, and home health. I enjoy being able to make someone's day better by providing a comforting ear, hand, smile, or personal care whenever needed. I feel that we all need someone with compassion, sympathy/ empathy, and a genuine love for wanting to see people do well in whatever capacity of life they may be. I have an Associates Degree in Human Services and one of my current achievements is deciding to pursue a degree in nursing. I'm interested in being a caregiver because I'd like to increase the amount of care the elderly population receives. As I learned through my previous health care experience, this population often benefits from caregivers who provide companionship and who pay attention to detail. I've cared for my grandmother for over 4-5 years I've always loved caring for others it's something I live for.

Growing up I was always with my grandparents, always wanting to help my mom take care of others. I put others before myself. The most I enjoy about being a caregiver is the one on one time I get to spend with the client, get to know them, their likes and dislikes, try to let them be independent as possible. At the end of the day, knowing that I have helped someone in every way I can and cared for them and did my best I can gets me through each and everyday. I became a caregiver, when my mother became very ill. I decieded to stop working with my employer to take of my mother. I new everything about her and her needs. I new what it takes to care for her and I could spend all the time in the world with her. My mother was very important to me and my siblings and I couldn't trust anyone at the time of her sickness. I thought it would be hard and tiresome but it wasn't. We became more closer. She shared a lot of important things with me that I never knew about. I was glad to able to be in good health to take care of my mother who is so important to me and my siblings. I'm a proud daughter to know I was able to be there when she needed me and I was a shoulder she could lean on and a ear to listen to all the things she wanted to say, my mother was the best thing that ever happen to me. She was always there when we needed her. She cried when we cried, she hurt when we hurt, she was my only best friend and now she past away I truly miss her. I wish I can turn back the hands of time just to spend a little more time with her. She taught me everything I needed to know about life and how to appreciate the things we go through. She was the best of all mothers. So that's why I love working as a caregiver, it helps you help others go through their situation a little bit better, and give them comfort when they don't have anyone else to talk too. Hello my name is latoria I'm a certified nursing assistant I've been in the field for 3 to 4years and I love it I became a caregiver when my grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009 I took care of her until she passed in 2011 every since then i enjoy taking care of peopler just being there for them whenever they need someone to talk to.
