After caring for my fiance's bed bound Uncle for 2 years back in 2013, I found myself going to night school to get into the Medical Field, so I could do more for patients like him. The entire time I was putting myself through night school, I took care of a few other disabled elderly neighbors. While working at NCMC hospital, and then a Gastroenterologist office, I did not feel I was where God wanted me. After speaking with the doctor I was working for and his wife, they pointed me in a direction to help hospice clients. I finally felt I was where God wanted me. In December of 2019, after my sister passed away from cancer, my Mom called and asked me to come home. She said she needed me to help her during her surgeries. I didn't hesitate. I sold my house and moved up here to Fayetteville to help my brother with my Mom. 6 months later she passed and I found myself right back in Home Health Care. I have always gone where I was needed and wanted. The appreciation the clients show me, just from the way their eyes smile at me, that pulls me right back to where I feel I belong. My apologies for not being available on the weekends. I was blessed with becoming a grandmother, shortly after my mom passed, so my weekends are pretty much taken up by my precious Grandson. Monday - Friday, if I am open, I would love to step in and help. Remember, no matter where you are in this walk of life, God has a plan for each and everyone of us. Hi my name is Olivia. I'm 30 years of age. I have 2 kids. I started being a home health aide when I was 16 years old. I later went on to get my CNA License. My goal is to eventually go to nursing school. I love caregiving because I love putting smiles on others faces and just being that listening ear.

I became a care-giver because I feel like I needed to experience taking care of others. I enjoy making my residents smile and lift their spirits. I have worked in long term care for a year and I'm in the process of receiving my medication aide license and I have intentions on becoming a nurse.

I put my client's needs at the forefront of my mind. I want them to be as comfortable as possible. I have always been the type of person who put others before myself and once I got into being a Caregiver I knew it was the perfect fit for me. I was able to use my skills to help others have a better outlook on life. I finally found something that gives me fulfillment. I have helped clients with dementia. I have helped a client who had a stroke and was recovering at home. I have held the hand of a man on his deathbed and stayed with him so his family could rest. I have helped another man with depression just by simply cleaning his home and talking with him. He was beaming as he said his house hadn't been that clean since his wife was alive. I have heard so many amazing stories and adventures of people who had been through different periods of this past century and I absolutely love what I do! I have worked for companies in the past but I prefer to work privately now. Some weren't bad but I did not like that they did not want their caregivers to become close with the client and their family. The other downside is when going through a company, the client may get several different caregivers in a week and they do not generally like that. I love being the only caregiver for a client because it builds trust and comfortability and the client doesn't have to explain their routine with someone new every other day.

My aunt turned me on to this line of work when she saw me take care of my grandmother after an accident and asked if I would help her with one of her clients.
