I have been a dedicated LPN/RN for the last 24 years. I have worked in a number of clinical settings taking care of patients and their families from birth to geriatric including post mortem care or just sitting by holding the hand of a lady who was dying and didn't have any family to sit by her during her last moments on this earth. I believe in the nursing process and legality of all medical records and strive to be the best at both but will always put a patients' care before my own or a corporation. I am a strong patient advocate and firmly believe we would not be nurses if there were not patients who needed us. We are placed in different jobs and facilities, not by chance, but to fulfill a genuine need including our own needs. Each position is a learning experience and may help us save lives in future positions. I have seen miracles occur in the medical settings I have worked in and I thank God for letting me be a minute part of his work by being empathetic, caring and proactive in both my role as a nurse and as a human being. Even though we often see or hear about the medical providers who caused or brought some kind of grief to patients, I strive to encourage people to judge each "professional" individually and not label all nurses as cold and ruled by financial gain.
