I became a caregiver when my grandmother was diagnosed with cancer, after seeing how personal care was so important for a person that could no longer take care of themselves, I became interested in taking care of people on a personal level. I like being a caregiver because it is personal, you get to know a person and their needs without being rush, as you are in a nursing home setting. I pride myself with being patient, and getting to know what a person's personal preferences are. I have my CNA certification, and have been working with the elderly and special needs for about four years. Before I received my certification I work with special needs clients, in their homes.
