I have been a caregiver for over 17 yrs. I Have worked with wonderful people whom I still keep in touch with some of the families. What made this work so amazing and worth all the long hours and hard work is the bond you create with every Patient and their families. There are sad moments when the job is over but the memories stay in your heart for ever and sometimes we are just lucky enough to keep a nice relationship with the families of the patients we have taken care of. Through every job I have learned more skills I can bring forward to future assignments. Life is always a learning step.

I've been a caregiver for 35 yrs. I started in this field when I was just 17. I love what I do. I come from a medical family and decided at a very young age that I wanted to be a doctor or nurse. I specialize in geriatric dementia and Alzheimers care. Every client needs to know they're truly cared for on every level with love, patience, and kindness. I enjoy learning from them ... they often have amazing histories, stories and lessons to share.I'm often with my clients for the duration of their lives.

Besides experience and knowledge I acquired from nursing school, helping others has always been my passion. I find joy and fulfillment knowing I make a difference in someone else's life. I am patient and willing to adjust to the needs of my clients. I try to put myself in their shoes, to try and understand them. I treat my patients with love and respect, and with dignity, just like how I would want to be treated if I was in their same situation. Since I was a young age, I have always been interested in helping other people. I enjoy helping others who have trouble helping themselves especially the elderly. I completed my vocational nursing studies in 2012 and it was at that point I realised that helping people is my calling. I love that being a caregiver, you can make a difference. It's a rewarding experience providing care and assistance to those who are no longer able to do so and to know that I have done my job right when I see smiles on their faces. The moments that make me most proud of as a care giver is when I see my patients doing well, seeing their happy faces.

I was born in Culver City, Ca. and raised by my grandparents there. I enjoyed gardening with my grandfather and knitting/crafting with my grandmother all the while listening to stories about life back in the islands and their journey to the US for opportunity of a better life. As I got older, I became my grandparents' caregiver. Caring for them is what interested me in this line of work. There is so much more to caregiving than meds reminder and assisting with ADL's or pillow fluffing. One must have empathy, patience and a great sense of humor (just to name a few) in this line of work. What makes ME stand out from the rest, is my patience and ability to build a rapport with my clients so they continue to feel independent.

I am a non-smoker, a positive thinker and self starter. I'm a compassionate, patient, understanding, caring and hardworking individual. Very dependable and trustworthy. I've been in the nursing field since 1980 Convalescent Home Acute Care setting Mental Health and In home care But it became a passion when I started caring for my 95 year old great grandmother in the south just the passion in caring for someone who need it make my heart and soul feel worthy.

The reason for becoming a caregiver is that I wanted more 1 to 1 interactions with patients being that working at the hospital patients come and go and it's extremely difficult to build relationships. I have since taken care of a patient (hired privately) for 3 years and she has now passed. I am looking to care for someone wholeheartedly & willing to build relationships with the family as well in order to achieve the best quality of life to those in need.
