I'm very good at caring for others and have always wanted to be a nurse. The appreciation from clients and the feeling of knowing that you are helping people transition from one situation to the other for me is priceless. My first client was given a couple of weeks to live by her Dr. When I took over her care, she lived three more years. I love what I do because it has taught and helped me to be a better person. I am raising two beautiful children and very proud of what I do everyday.

Caring for seniors is a passion of mine and has been for many years. My biggest achievement is attending nursing school at age 47 after being an executive secretary for years. My philosophy is to treat people as if they were my own family. Even though I am a retired RN, I am still licensed in Michigan and I miss assisting with activities of daily living while keeping a client's independence and dignity in tact. My favorite work was in Home Health for the last 15 years. It is so much better being in a client's home to determine what help is really needed and wanted. I am a happy, caring person and am anxious to help where I am needed. My residence is in the vicinity of Ocala's beautiful Public Library.

I am a retired RN with 30 years experience in ER, OR, ICU, Home Health and Hospice. I've chosen to become a caregiver because: 1. My assessment skills are excellent. I am a patient instructor in regards to medication management/disease processes. 4. I understand family dynamics and relationship building during stressful situations. 5. I am open minded, non-judgmental, appreciative of all life styles. 6. I adore pets and believe that fur friends offer much in the way of unconditional love and support. 7. I enjoy people! I am an avid student of our "humanness".

Derivia W.

Ocala, FL · 8 years experience

I have 8 years of experience in providing care for the Elderly. I enjoy doing my job because I am able to utilize my knowledge and skills I have gained throughout the years of employment in the Healthcare field, and most of all I enjoy assisting others with their daily duties in order to carry on with their day. My Mom and I became care providers for my grandmother before she passed away in 2008 with Lung Cancer. Providing care for my Grandmother was the hardest thing to do because we knew that her time was coming to an end, but we still gave her our all. I will provide the same exact care your loved one as if he/she is my relative. I believe in giving back because I look at it as if it is me in their shoes, so therefore I give my all and do my best because that is the only right thing to do. Please feel free to ask any and every question you have because I also need the guardian comfortable too.

Skills & Certifications: COPD, Dementia, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Depression, Hearing Disorders, Arthritis, Palliative Care, Home Health Care, Tracheotomy / Ventilation, Vision and Eye Disorders, Neurological Disorders, Orthopedic Care, Parkinson's Disease, Post Surgery Recovery, ALS, Respiratory Disorders, Skin Disorders, Stroke, HIV/AIDS, Renal and Urological Disorders, Alzheimer's Disease, Blood Disorders, Cancer Recovery, Cardiovascular Disorders, Diabetes, Gastrointestinal Disorders, Hospice Care, Multiple Sclerosis

Caregiving isn't a job to me. It's something I love doing and it's my duty to give back to my community while helping those in need. I am compassionate towards others and I know how to satisfy and meet the demands of other people's needs. Being a daughter to a mother who needs help herself, has shown me just how tough it could be for others to take care of their loved ones while juggling work, kids, and other responsibilities. Caregiving is my foundation to jumping into the career of the medical field. Understanding what it takes to take care of someone in need will only then provide me with insight on how I'll be able to take care of others in my future medical profession.
