I've been educated, consistently trained, & certified in the home & healthcare field since 2004. I believe I was directed into this profession because I watched my mother & grandmother take care of a lot of people so it's kind of apart of my DNA. My name is Courtney Adams. I am a mother of 2 and a wonderful aid. I am a only child and my generation of family is a lot older. Growing up most of them opt to pass away at home leaving my grandmother, my mother and myself to care and comfort them. Then I knew that I was born to be a caregiver and a nurtured nurtueror. I have been a paid at a couple of hospitals and various long term care, rehab, hospice and assisted living facilites. My greatest accomplishment as a aid is seeing the faces of patients and family when I have made a patient feel better, or brought a patients pulse back. As a aid I am determined to make patients feel as good comfortable and loved as possible.

I have been a caregiver since 2002. Ive worked with several client in and out of the home. I enjoy and take pride in the care I provide. I enjoy spending time, talking, and learning new things from my clients and assisting with their needs.

I was a caregiver to a quadriplegic professor when I was in college to help pay for my tuition. After college, I continued doing private care on the side for some Alzheimer patients at a nursing home. In 2004, I enrolled at a nursing school for a year and a half. I did not finish my degree, but I did receive my certification as a CNA and as a Medication Technician. I keep up to date with the newest discoveries and findings in the world of medicine. Even though I have not had any new medical training, I am current on my knowledge of diseases, medications and side effects of such medications. For instance, I am aware that when you care for an Alzheimer's patient, you step into his/her world, and not insist that he/she conforms to your expectations of what is real. I am compassionate and capable. All of the kids are either all grown or almost grown, but I still have this vast need to nurture. My husband refuses to be smothered, so, I need to go out of the house and find someone else who would appreciate being cared for :-) My kids are my biggest accomplishment. The eldest is going to medical school this summer, and the middle one is attending UMKC in August. The youngest one is doing great as a Sophomore while giving out just enough sass to maintain her teenage status.

Growing up I have always been very interested in helping people for their daily living. I am kind, gentle, and very compassionate person. What attracted me to being a caregiver was generally to help people and advocate for people. What enjoy most about being a caregiver is to be able help people in their sickness and you see how their health improves. One of my personal achievements is to be able to graduate from school, proud of that.

I will be a great person for this job is because I go above and beyond for anybody I work with or I work for , I'm here to love them like family and make them feel comfortable as possible , I enjoy working with people because we all need help one day and they give me sooo much love and joy being with them .
