Hello, My name is Kayone and I have been a caregiver for 5 years. I am 28 years old and live on my own. I am a L. P. N by profession where I come from (Jamaica) this is my first time in the states and it s a wonderful place, culture and all. I have worked in nursing homes and hospitals where I cared for bed ridden, dementia, stroke, Alzheimer s patients as well as patients who undergo tracheostomy surgery. I genuinely love the elderly as they have so much to tell and it all makes me appreciate life more knowing I will be old one day.
I am passionate about caring for individuals who are needy, sick and disabled. I love my job as a caregiver. Providing support and saving lives is my ultimate goal. My greatest achievement is saving lives and keeping my patients clean and healthy. Personally, hygiene is always a key. For example I was taking care of a disabled female who was bed bounded. I assisted her with overall personal care, feeding, light housekeeping, re-positioned her every two hours and performed all activities of daily living. I prepared her daily meals, reminded her to take her medication and ensured safety and cleanliness in her home. I love my job as a caregiver. I am a certified licensed nurse assistant and a bachelors degree in public health. I have a driver license in case there is a need for transportation for the client.
I used to work as a care giver for VNA (Visiting Nurses Association) as a HHA several years ago. I stopped because I needed full time hours at the time. I have experience working with cognitively delayed, physically challenged and dual diagnosed persons for more than twenty years. I've worked in Group Homes in South Jersey, as well as Ancora Psychiatric Hospital with patients who were deemed not guilty by reason of insanity. Both of these settings, allowed me the opportunity to work with individuals with various physical health illnesses, different personalities, and with severe mental diagnoses. I enjoy working with seniors. It gives me great joy to serve those in need. I'm easy to get along with, easy going, patient, caring, understanding, trust worthy, punctual, and treat others in the way that I want to be treated. I miss being a caregiver, thus is why I have decided to make myself available to serve others. One of my personal achievements is my ability to connect to all classes and races of people.
