About Jeanene

As the mother of two adult children one of which is autistic, I believe that I encompass a sense of flexibility, patience, kindness, acceptance, and the knowledge of giving my daughter and others ownership of what they believe is right for them at their stage. When my father was diagnosed with dementia I had to assist my mother in taking care of him. My father showed me a different side of himself, through conversations he allowed me to learn about his life from the past even though he didn't know what was happening today. He was able to share with me his experiences in the past which helps me to understand who he had become and why he had become that person. My daughter being autistic automatically made me a caregiver. I am very proud of the success that she has achieved. We have brought her up to have dignity, a voice, and understanding of what her disability is and what her limitations are. I've enjoyed being a caregiver because I love to get to know people, I enjoy going and doing things with others that make them happy, going out to eat, shopping, whatever is going to bring them joy. In October 2019 my husband and I were hit by a semi, I broke my pelvis. I was not sure if I would be able to walk. My biggest achievement from that point forward is that today I am able to walk up to 5 miles with no assistance
