About Jennifer

Since I was a child, I've loved helping other people. I enjoy working with people of all ages and circumstances. What excites me most about this position is the opportunity to help those with disabilities live happier, healthier lives. I think helping other people affects the local community positively, so I'd feel honored to accept such a vital role. Also caring for my grandma inspired me to become a caregiver. I cared for her for years, and through that experience, I learned that I'm passionate about helping people and improving the daily lives of those in need of care. Supporting my grandma taught me skills like patience, compassion and problem-solving. I learned how to address issues quickly and effectively to ensure my grandma was healthy and safe. While the work was challenging, improving my grandma's quality of life made it worthwhile. I'd love to apply my skills to help make the same impact at your organization. I'm interested in being a caregiver because I'd like to increase the amount of care the elderly and adults with disabilities population receives. As I learned through my previous health care experience, this population often benefits from caregivers who provide companionship and who pay attention to detail. This can help improve the daily lives of this population. I'd love to be a part of that effort through this position and help improve the kind of care this group receives. I have been doing this type of work for 25 years this is my earthly calling this is what God calls me to do.

I was a pediatric ophthalmology specialist in Canada; when we were transferred to the USA, I began a food manufacturing company. A friend approached me in 2015 to ask if I would help with their mum who was near vegetative status due to progressing dementia and being alone. Four months later, this beautiful Lady was walking, singing, dancing, and cooking with me - one of the most self-gratifying endeavors of my life. Now living in the beautiful hill country, retirement is not satisfying - I do volunteer at the VA hospital just to see these heroes smile, laugh & have someone to listen to them... and of course plenty of hugs! I would treasure being able to help another person find enjoyment in life. I started over 10 years ago at a local nursing home here in Fredericksburg, TX. I fell in love with how close you get to the patients like learning about their interests, hobbies & about their families they loved so much. I cared for each & every patient as if they were my own family. I love the sincere talks & the laughs & the time I spend with each & every single patient I worked with. I also learned alot from my alzheimer's & dementia patients. It's a day to day adventure that I welcome gladly. I have experience in hospice care as well as home healthcare. No matter where I worked I learned something from each place & each wonderful patient I had the privilege to come in contact with.
