I became a caregiver to gain more experience working with elderly patients before attending nursing school. I started caregiving for just a job before I realize that elderly people are a joy to work. I enjoy the fact that they have lived a full life and don't mind sharing their wisdom and experiences. I am very gentle and patient with elderly people, because they are not the same as they once were and it can be frustrating for them. Its better to put them at ease than to criticize or antagonize them.
