As a former public school teacher, agency staff member and school administrator, I have had the opportunity to serve families in many capacities. As a child of a parent with Alzheimer's, I have care-giving experience. Additionally, with a psychology degree, I have had the opportunity to apply strategies and best practices in working with individuals that exhibit challenging behaviors. My special education background allows me to understand how to work with PT and OT needs. Recently, I cared for a gentlemen in his home fulltime through Right At Home agency. He just transitioned to memory care. I received caregiver of the month recently. My service at Home Instead allowed me many great experiences with clients from various backgrounds and needs. I was awarded Caregiver of the Quarter by the agency Dec. 2018. It was an honor and especially when it was my pleasure to serve them. I am very reliable and dependable and enjoy immensely helping families. Caring for others has been my life's focus. I enjoy preparing meals and ensuring clients have a quality life with dignity. I am healthy and exercise frequently to stay strong mentally and physically for my clients.

My career as a caregiver began with taking care of both my parents. My father had cancer and my mother had dementia. I was working as well while taking care of my parents. After they passed away and in 2012 my job where I was working was outsourced, I decided I wanted to make a career of being a caregiver. I went to CTK Healthcare and Career Institute to obtain my CNA certification. Since 2013 to current I have worked privately and with agencies as a caregiver. My skills and duties are to perform light housekeeping, light meal preparations, assist with shower and dressing, medication reminders, assist with shopping for groceries and putting them away, assist with pet care, and companionship. I enjoy interacting with my clients and helping them have a safe, healthy , and clean environment to live in. I understand the challenges of caretaking as well as the stress of a loved one's health changes and needs changing from taking care of my parents. I find great joy in life being there for others and help make there day less stressful.
