About Zoar

I am a very observant and attentive person. When it comes to detail I try to do my best. I am very open and kind, I like to make sure my patients are comfortable and if needed entertained. I don't mind sitting next to my patients and reading a book or two to them. Wanting patient-care experience as a pre-need student is what attracted me to caregiving. It is more one on one than working in a hospital where I am assigned 10-15 patients a night. I am able to give more specific care and also become more familiar with my care-taker and their needs. When I see a smile on their face when they are rested and well taken care of gives me joy. One accomplishment that I have achieved is working in a behavioral health hospital, which is the field I want to work in although not the exact setting I would prefer, but all in the same I am proud of myself that I was able to gain that year of experience.

As a driver I was committed to making sure all our outpatients were picked up and dropped off daily. Adolescents had a program which I had to be aware of, and I had to make sure that if there were any students who had certain behaviors that I noted it down and if impertinent I let the therapists or counselor know, in case they needed to be re-admitted into in-patient care. As a Technician I was responsible for in-patient care of adults and geriatric patients in a sister hospital (Mayhill Hospital). I would record behavior, location, and crucial interactions. As a team, technicians made sure of safety on the floor. We were responsible for making sure the routine through the day was kept steady, from morning showers to making sure meals were eaten, and group therapy sessions were had throughout the day. In cases of violence we had to calm down the patients and in cases of possible self harm or harm to others ONLY physically restraining the patients to where they cannot hurt themselves or others until once again calm.
