About Sheri

I was raised in a family with younger siblings and started caring for others as a young child. Babysitting was my first and favorite job but as I got older, I knew more people personally that needed help as they were aging and less mobile than they were used to being. I love being able to do things around the house for them, make them meals, help them get around and just listen to their stories. I worked for a woman from the time she was in her late 80's until her early 90's. She usually had me do her grocery shopping so I would arrive at her home to get her list, go shopping, then come back with the things she needed and put everything away. Then I would clean her home and do whatever things she needed help with. I insisted on helping with her laundry as the machines were in her basement and I didn't want her going up and down the stairs carrying her basket. Sometimes I made meals for her or just sat and talked when she wanted to. There were some other tasks that I would do that were only required seasonally, for example polishing her silver or putting out and bringing in lawn furniture. She was very demanding but I was happy to help her with the things that she wished she could do but was no longer able to.

I weekly visited a lady in her 80's to clean her home, do a couple loads of laundry, prepare at least 2 meals and sit and talk with her. Whatever she needed, I would help her with, even getting to the bathroom and helping her dress at times. There were also times that I helped apply lotion to her feet or do her hair when needed. She became very dear to me and I cared for her up until shortly before she passed away.
