I never saw myself in this career. I never thought I could handle it, until the day I realized how much my grandpa relied on my family and I after his stroke that made him wheelchair/walker bound. We took care of him for a year and a half. On my days to take care of him I would help him in the shower, get him dressed, cook for him, clip his finger nails, help him in bed, help him in the bathroom etc. i reached out to my friend that's a CNA and got the caregiver job shortly after. I enjoy being able to help the elderly and see the smile on their face. Although they may not always be in the best mood I try to change it. I enjoy getting to know my clients. I love to do activities with them, even if it's just watching a movie or helping them with things they need to do. Whatever it is to see the smile at the end of the day!
