I am a caring and compassionate person, I have worked with dementia for about a year now, and have fallen in love with it and in love with the people that I help. I have always enjoyed helping people and providing them with someone they can trust and depend on, and I love making a change in peoples lives. I enjoy spending time with them, getting to know them, even listening to the same story a thousand times and seeing them smile and light up when they talk about memories and see that someone is listening. I love providing them with care, compassion, dignity, respect, and love. As a receptionist, I would help inform families of their loved ones and how they were doing/what they needed provided care wise, this was especially important during the height of the COVID pandemic, I provided comfort to families as well as calls, video chats, and window visits. I then started helping engage residents, growing close to them and helping comfort them when things would go wrong, often I would stay after I clocked out to help them eat dinner and make sure that they were comfortable and happy, which is what in turn led me to falling in love with caregiving and activites.
