I started out caretaking at the age of 15 to be able to help grandmother & provide support for others that need help. I do believe my heart keeps me in this line of work because of the compassion I have for helping others, having the skills & heart to provide companionship. Being raised by my grandmother and supporting her at her time of need made me want to give that support to people & their families in need. I am supper enthusiast and observant with a huge heart. Working with New way Services, I worked beside a LVN inside of a care home taking care of three adults & two children. I would have to chart for them separately through my shift & keep them on their separate daily program that they were used to. I would log things like bowel movements, food intake , times sensory stimulated activities, showing or cognate duties & medication distribution. Everyone has separate medications and disabilities so close attention was always priority. I would operate a Hoyer Lift to transport clients to wheelchair or beds, distribute medicines and food through Tube feedings as well as grooming.

I assisted a 92 year old women inside of her beautiful home as a live-in caregiver Friday- Monday mornings! While helping Ms. Lewis inside of her home we managed to get her up and physically active more then her family ever seen. We would have so much fun together doing activities such as planting in her backyard, sitting and coloring together, going on walks, outings & we had dates on Sunday since she hadn't no longer been able to go to church anymore. I took care of her for two years while she started to develop Alzheimer's & required more attention. I provided genuine care and companionship for Ms. Lewis to the point of her family and herself as well wanted me full time! My job consisted of & I went above and beyond expectations.
