My sister was a caregiver and I could see how much she enjoyed it so I became one and am glad that I did. I enjoy listening to what they did when they where younger and what they all did through out there lives. I enjoy being a caregiver because you do something different every day even if with the same people. You learn something new every minute of every day. I started working as a CNA 19 yrs ago. Was doing it for a while left nursing because of pay at the time and went and worked in a factory for 8 yrs. Which helped me to be able to work in a fast paced environment. Left factory work and went back into nursing. Worked at a nursing home in Wittenberg for almost 2 yrs left there and I'm currently working at the WVH in King WI(8 yrs). I have learned to deal with many different kinds of people. From dementia to alzheimers. To having COPD, CHF, and others. To me it takes a special kind of person to be a caregiver. One that is able to handle the different kinds of diseases and deaths that take place. I am proud and happy of what I do. The achievements that I have done in the last 10 years of nursing is learning to adapt to change. Seeing what is going on around you with members/residents to co-workers. I am part of the falls committee at my employer and are trying to find ways of having less, and yet finding out why and how to eliminate falls.
