About Sue

I am a good caregiver because I am very interested in all my clients and their needs . I became a caregiver to be out and around other people . I love listening to all their lives stories and they enjoy talking about it . I don't know how to answer what I like about being a caregiver , because I have always been the one who has always been there wherever I was needed and whenever , it just seems natural to me . I guess my personal achievement I am proud of would be that I brought joy and happiness to them all each day I was with them until their deaths .

DR. Letty Schantz
Ms. Letty was a Hospic patient when I started with her . She had terminal Copd . stage 4 kidney failure . congested heart failure , was bed ridden . She had an Aide from hospic come in 5 days a week to bathe , shampoo , change her sheets , if it was needed after thier visit , then I did it as needed. I gave her meds. ,her inhalers every3 hrs. , prepared her meals , gave her muscle massages as needed for cramping , gave her breathing treatments , kept her as comfortable as I could by adjusting her bed , pillows , covers , keeping her dryed , pulled up in bed for more comfort etc . Of course on Sat & Sun. I bathed and changed her bed as a aide didnt work week-ends . I worked 7/24 shifts here also and also used a monitor at night for her . As Ms. Letty worsened with her pain I also adminstered her liquid Morphine as needed for her pain . Ms. Letty was also a wonderful client ... she was in horrific pain but the nearly 3 months I cared for her she never complained once , she was a Trooper up until the end ... another very gracious lady Iwas blessed to care for .

Ms. Beth had the first stages of Dementia when I started as her care giver . I worked a 7/24 shift . One wk. on / off . I woke her @ 7;30 ea. morning , her routine was being assisted with tiolet , shower , shampoo, dental hygiene , dressing , hair , makeup if it was wanted . Would have her coffee while I prepared her breakfast , after eating take her meds . , she would then want to watch Tv unless she had appts . are wanted to go shopping , visit friends , etc. Eat lunch out are prepare it @ home , nap , snack , walk for exercise , weather premitting . We would do puzzles , she loved to paint , repot her plants and visit with the other tenants in the complex . Dinner , meds. , TV , bed , Ms. Beth was up and on a walker and was able to be mobile up to her death 2015 . Her Dementia had progressed to first stage of alzheimers when she passed away and the last year of her life we used monitors at night to keep a closer watch on her , and that was all the changes we had to do as she progressed into her illness . She was a joy the 2 years I WAS BLESSED TO CARE FOR HER .
