About Shana

I have been a caregiver since I was 15 years old and still in high school. Today having over 20 years of experience, I am still filled with the lively energy that is needed for this kind dedicated work. I've always cherished the honor to love others and have taken pride in the journey to make a difference in someone's life. I am able to build the companionship that's needed with enthusiasm. This has proven to comfort the fears that surface with life's challenges as people need care in life. I have mastered empathizing with encouragement to calm the storms of life and handle any crisis with kindness and patience. A variety of issues can surface on any given day so problem solving in a positive and timely way with flexibility has given me a strong record of client satisfaction. It comforts families that I offer so much experience and expertise having worked for many years in nursing homes, hospitals, private duty homes, hospice home health, knowledgeable with dementia, Alzheimer's, diabetes, physical therapy, dialysis. I must be attentive to the client and family with impecable communication skills in order to serve and maintain the ability to monitor the health and personal care of the clients daily lives. Most importantly be dedicated, supportive, dependable, trustworthy, and compassionate in order to have peace for the family that the client will have a better quality of life. I posses the knowledge to do this and thrive to be improving everyday life in many ways. The rewards are huge and I was born to serve others. I ground myself in medical knowledge and crave learning and improving all ways I can professionally. Most importantly I have built many cherished relationships along my journey with caregiving, ones which will last a lifetime. To me that is beyond an amazing opportunity and I anxiously await the next opportunity to be caregiving.

I am a happy and funny person, upbeat, like to sing. I am sensitive and listen well. I can usually come up with good ideas on making something easier to do or more efficient. I'm gentle. What attracted me to home care was all my family and friends telling me how good I would be at it. So tried it with a part time help with a lady with dementia/alzheimer's, her daughter saw how great I was with her mother and hired me full time. From there I learned so much. She would get confused sometimes angry even sad, we worked together to figure it out, her and I . That's where compassion and patience comes in. I Started taking care of a child w/cerebral palsy part time as well. What I enjoy about being a caregiver is knowing I'm helping someone's life to be a little easier, keeping them comfortable and hopefully a little laughter and a smile is really great. Knowing I have made a difference means a great deal. I have had many great achievements in this line of work. One of them was when a client was starting to have a stroke, I caught it quickly and my training from several weeks back with the Red Cross on Abuse and Neglect, First Aid and CPR came rushing back and I just went into action. Once the ambulance was there and one of the other employees told them all I did, They said I did everything right! I did a good job! Wow,that felt great and was thankful I somehow remembered all I had learned. I didn't even realize what I had done till I heard them saying it, but most of all, she(my client) was ok. I have worked with 6-7 different senior's and 3 young adults within last ten years. I have gone through drug screening and willing to again for any client your cost. That sums up some of me,any questions let me know.
