What helps me in my job is I see the residents as family. I treat them like I would with my family, I try my best at my job and to make sure they are taken care of to the very tee. When I was a little younger my great grandmother started losing her memory and was forgetting a lot of things, I would stay with her over night, take her to doctors, give her all her medications that she has to take at the times it was supposed to be done, and help her any way I could. I would like for the residents to know that they have someone there for them and will make sure they are taken care of. I enjoy hearing their stories of their past, hearing how much they adore their families, and just watch them light up when they have someone to talk to and share their life with. My most proudest achievement was watch someone who didn't want to talk, didn't want to eat, and couldn't sleep, turn around and start getting back on her feet once I gave them my trust and earned theirs back. They couldn't trust a care giver before, but I gave them a reason to trust and showed them my hard work.
