About John

I became a caregiver by choice after my father required 24-hour supervision; otherwise he would have had to be in a skilled nursing facility. I like providing both necessary and nurturing care. In addition, I liked to make him happy. I am proudest of how happy and content he was at the end of his life by, partly, my care and keeping him out of a nursing home. I am a spiritual person who believes my mission is to serve others.

    I was responsible for looking after the safety, health, and well-being of my father. I supervised his taking of medication and his special eating requirements. I kept track of his medication and bought more when needed. I took him to medical appointments. I cooked and cleaned for us both. I was also unofficially in charge of his morale and he was happy until the last two weeks of his life.
