I became a caregiver in 2004 because I'd spent the last few years of my grandmother's life helping her while she suffered with Alzheimers. I saw how important it was for them to have someone there to help them with the day to day when family couldn't be. Then after I got into the profession my love for helping others just grew. To see the joy it brings to the person to sometimes just have someone there for a companion. I work full time at Rusk State Hospital working closely with clients on Therapeutic Rehabilitation. I went back to part time home health again in July 2021 and am so thankful that I did. In the last 4 years I've worked with some of the absolute most wonderful families. One client even always told his wife, "I'm sure glad she's coming today because I miss her, she's a sweet little girl". I feel such a connection with my clients that to me, they aren't just clients, they are family! I go above and beyond during my visits, I dont just cook and clean. I help out with things from small art projects to flower gardening with my clients, whatever makes them smile that day is what they needed. I am currently on my CPR and Basic Life Support Certification as well.
