When someone asks me why I became a nurse I have always given the same answer. And that answer is, that due to some unfortunate events in my own personal life when I was in high school I became enamored and somewhat comforted by hospitals, nurses and the entire thought of taking care of someone in their hardest of times. Shortly after I lost my mother to cancer at 17yrs old I would find myself sneaking out to go to the hospital lobby I had become so accustomed to, sometimes for a couple hours and sometimes all night....i think it was the hard pleather couches and lemon smell. I think the nurses just let me do it because they knew I needed to be there to be close to her but I'd also like to think they knew I was so grateful and blown away at the thought of their profession and their complete unconditional love for not only her but my entire family...I think they knew I had found a passion and that is what I've been doing since 1999. I've worked in hospitals, nursing homes, prisons, clinic, home health and hospice and have absolutely enjoyed every moment of it, wouldn't trade it for the world(okay not gonna lie, there may be a few moments I could have gone without). I have met some amazing people whether its coworkers or patients/family and am truly better for it all.

Arranged skilled nursing, physical/occupational/speech therapy and social work as needed depending on patients diagnosis and doctors orders. Often seeing patients on the weekends or during the week if needed allowed a unique view and appreciation for all home health clinicians and patients families. Also assisted in triage for patients and family members calling the office with medical concerns or issues. Took orders from physicians resulting in coordination of staff, supplies and schedules to provide the best patient care possible. Truly enjoyed my team, my patients and my job:)
