If I were to describe myself using any of the words in the world it would have to be heart driven. Ever since I could remember my heart has always been caring for people, and increasing their quality of life while I have their presence. I grew up watching many members of my family become caregivers such as Nurses or CNAs and I always promised myself that no matter what I was going to have a positive impact on someone's life. If I could only pick one thing that I enjoy the most caring for others it would have to be seeing the individuals go through hard times, but getting to be there to lift them back up and remind them how special they are. I love being able to hold their hands when they realize their families are far away, and make sure they know they are loved. I make it my souls mission to protect their hearts and minds at all costs during my time with them. One personal achievement I would like to describe is one time I had a deaf patient who was never understood by any other staff members and understandably the deaf patient grew irritable and bitter towards staff. I made it my personal goal to learn sign language and after teaching myself for a few weeks I was able to communicate AND understand her needs better than anyone in my facility ever before! It was something so small that nobody else was willing to do for her benefit. I will always remember small victories with my patients and cherish them as I go. It is never easy leaving the sweet souls I care for, but they truly do live in my heart for a lifetime.
