Care giving has been a part of me for a very long time, from bringing crackers and 7up to my brother when he was sick, caring for my grandparents while in the nursing home. I was raised around some amazing women who have shown me that no matter what in any situation I will always be there for someone in need. Have seen the good and bad in working and visiting facilities. When someone is working just for a paycheck that person is most certainly in the wrong career for healthcare. Yes a paycheck is good there is too much compassion in me to be that way, I get way to attached to my people cannot help that. Our elders deserve to be treated with the upmost respect. I have sat with a client at an assisted living facility for 13 hours, working a double 2pm to 6 am the next morning, 13 of the 16 was talking, singing just being there for that resident made care giving that much more special. What I enjoy the most bringing smiles to each and every person I meet, young or old. If I only see one smile than I know have done a good days work. The most personal achievement I am proud of are my children, without then life would not exist they are my heartbeat and if anything were to happen to either of my children I would lose my absolute mind.

Helping Restore Ability

I cared for a beautiful little girl needing extra care, she was disabled still attending school. My duties consisted of beginning the care at 3:30 when picking up Carolyn from school, changing her and re braiding her hair which she did not like at all. Three days a week Monday Wednesday and Friday were shower days. Had her chair which I transferred each time. I really enjoyed caring for Carolyn and miss her every day; in July she passed away and her 16th birthday was not far away it was in August.
