I became a Certified Nursing Assistant, because when my mom was diagnosed with colon cancer I wanted to be the one to take care of her. The things I like about being a CNA is I like taking care of others, I am a very compassionate person and I have a good heart. I was nominated for the Mercy Award at a Louisiana hospital, the highest award at the hospital. I have been a CNA for 20 years. My experience has been in hosptials, nursing homes, rehab hospitals, private duty, and in-home care. There are two more reasons why I am glad I have my certification is because I also had the chance to take care of my dad and grandma before they passed away. These three people were part of the reason for me to continue working in the medical field.
