I have been a caregiver off and on for over 25 years and I love what I do! I have been told I have a "old soul" and that I have a special way of getting people to smile and feel comfortable. I got into this line of work after helping my mother care for my grandparents that both had Alzheimer's and Dementia. This work is very rewarding for me because I not only FEEL like I make a difference in my clients lives, but, it also shows by the smiles on the faces of them and their families. I not only assist with daily living activities and house keeping, but I also provide companionship and support. I have the ability to fit in just like a member of the family most times and it is very important to me that my clients feel respected and safe and loved. Each day will begin with a huge smile and a quick sit down visit and conversation that hopefully includes some laughs and more smiles and when the day is done I will give a round of hugs and more smiles until my next visit. I like making a difference in people's lives and strive to ensure that my clients never feel lonely or unsafe. Noone should ever be made to feel embarrassed or afraid especially by the people that they are trusting to provide them with care and that is one of the most important reasons I have for being in this profession.
