In this role I was able to serve Megan, an autistic woman living on her own but needing a lot of help. I was called in when the state of her apartment garnered eviction, but within a week I had her passing inspections and able to renew her lease. My responsibilities included meal prep, shopping, transportation, management of all domestic responsibilities such as cleaning and minor repairs, emotional support, and companionship. We became best friends, so even though I stop[ed working for her when I moved across state, we get together for holidays, celebrate each others birthdays every year, and facetime on Sundays. From this experience of serving Megan I learned that I was capable of taking on huge tasks such as emotional outbursts or a household taken over by filth and bring peace back to the environment. I found myself to be resourceful in the little things like blending veggies into tasteful dishes for my client's nutritional needs while complying with her picky eating habits. I am a deeply loving person, so working in care environments brings me immense joy and really shows in my relationship with the client.
