Hello. I am a retired federal government consultant. Seven years ago, my father passed away so I took it upon myself to take care of my mother full time. She has mild dementia, but still was living a very active life. Although my family has now made other arrangements for her, I realized that I do this rather well. I am not formally trained in seniors care, but I do have a bachelor of science degree in psychology, and have experience in teaching (both professionally and volunteering). My strength is providing compassion and respect. I would be a good fit for your family member who is still fairly independent, but you worry about leaving them alone too often. I can assist with medication reminders, cooking, light housekeeping, running errands, following instructions for physical therapy and exercise and companionship. I am responsible, mature, professional, honest, and would treat your family member as I would like others to treat my mom.
