Being a single mother of two I did what I had to to raise my girls. Managing a restaurant was hard work and long hours. I didn't start doing what I wanted to until after they had left home. I've always felt a need to help others, even when I couldn't help myself . I'm compassionate , caring, patient, empathetic, and understanding of how certain diseases affect the patient. Not all stroke victims, Alzheimer's or disabled patients are the same. I work with people based on their personality and their specific needs. I was raised to treat people like I want to be treated and that's how I try to live my life

PCA Certified 2020 CPR/First Aid 2020 Why did I become a care giver? In 2003 I started working in an Assisted Living part time where I was trained in medication management and went to a training course on Alzheimer's. When I retired from the Federal Government I started working at places like Senior Corp and Visiting Angels. I decided to go private and my first case was hospice and my last case was care giving and hospice. What attracted me to care giving is my compassion, empathy, and the love of taking care of someone who needs my help. I am friendly, happy-go-lucky and full of life. I believe God led me to taking care of seniors and I have been doing this work over 10 years. What makes me a great caregiver is taking my job seriously, being on time, and doing schedules for all the caregivers, making sure the client does not run out of supplies and make sure my client is comfortable and happy at all times. A personal achievement I am proud is I was in the Newsletter at Visiting Angel where I received 10 because my client's son gave me a week off with pay around the holidays. This has never happened to any other caregiver at Visiting Angels. I am proud to go from caregiver to hospice because I want to make sure my client is comfortable and not in pain before passing.
