Hello! My name is Valentina and I have been taking care of the elderly since I was a child. My grandmother Edith lost her left leg due to diabetes and my father was determined to take care of her at home. As a child, helping her with her toileting needs, transfer to and from her wheelchair, cooking and bathing was expected of me. After school play time with friends was cut short as well, since I needed to relieve the Caregiver and take over. I did not realize all of that was preparing me for my career in healthcare.
