After caring for my mother, who passed away from lung cancer, over twenty years ago; and then my oldest sister, who passed from complications from heart disease, I realized that caregiving chose me. I am caregiver from the heart. For me, being a caregiver, means: to give a care. And this is what i do, naturally, I give of myself, from a caring and kind heart. Caregiving is more than just a job or career choice, it's who I am, as a human being. I like being there to care for others, through one of the lowest, venerable times of their lives: to let them know that they are not alone, that they will be cared for, for as long as they need to be, and that, they are loved. To be the one person, that my mother and sister chose, to be their caregiver, and also, the one to be there through their personal transition, to the other side of life. I am a 54 years young, mother of three adult children, and six beautiful grandchildren, of whom, I love and treasure with all my heart. I live each day, in gratitude, with the knowledge that we are not promised tomorrow, so I choose to live, to laugh and to love, giving breath to each new day, and embracing it to the fullest of my capacity.
