Growing up in a family of healthcare professionals, I have always thought that I would become a nurse at a hospital. While in high school, I got a job at a local assisted living facility as a server, and I knew right away that this is the direction where my career would go. I enjoy working with the elderly population, and I have mostly enjoyed jobs where I can have one-on-one interaction with them and develop a relationship with the person I am caring for. Throughout my life, I have always enjoyed taking care of the elder family members, and I would like to help others in this way. I enjoy making making someone smile and doing little things to make a person's day better. I am proud to say that I have been a caregiver for over 10 years now, I have had other jobs along the way but always find my way back to caregiving. My compassionate and caring personality have always been my greatest assets, along with my attention to details and my willingness to always put away my needs to assist others. Knowing that a simple smile on my face can bring joy and happiness to someone else is why I still love being a caregiver. Also, the moments when I can reflect back and see how I have helped someone is what caregiving is all about.
