I have been working off and on over the years as a caregiver. I would have to say: I fell into the position. I have been taking care of my disabled brother for years. Then my mother became very sick from complications of diabetes. I have been taking care of her for years. After graduating from college in 2006 with a BA in Social Work and I couldn't find a job using my degree, I continued being a caregiver. There is a lot of social work involved in caregiving. So I do feel I am using my degree. I also started my own pet treat business around caring for my family and clients. Another caregiving role: taking care of our pets. I enjoy helping people stay independent of care centers.
