What a great caregiver means to me is to be able to show empathy and compassion toward the clients and families that I work with. By taking the time to fully understand my patient's needs and giving them the patience to work through their rehabilitation at their own pace, I show them that I care about them and that I want to do what I can to help them. I become a caregiver because I enjoy working with people. I love helping the individuals and their families to create the tailored care that is needed. I also enjoy working with the elderly in overcoming the difficulties associated with their health issues and helping them maintain their highest level of Activities Daily Living. The most satisfying part about being a caregiver is knowing that my clients and I foster a bond that makes me feel like a part of their family. In addition, the trust that my client's family put in me to ensure that their love ones are safe and taken care of is quite rewarding. I know how it helps the family feel at ease. One of my personally favorite achievements I'm proud of was helping one of my post-surgery clients at home with PT and OT; and enabling her to walk with a cane again instead of being restricted to a wheelchair.

I am a college student, studying to become a nurse. I have a sincere desire to care for people and educate them on how to live a healthier life and make better lifestyle choices. I have worked as a caregiver for about 2 years, during which I have observed and participated in a number of patient needs assessment. Through this I have strengthen my personality traits of being patient, a good communicator, and committed to providing quality care. Working as a caregiver has been gratifying, I have enjoyed working with my clients, getting to know them, and even learning from them. As a result, I want to keep caring for people for as long as I possibly can!
