About Courtney

Hi! I'm 27-years-old and currently back in school on the path to becoming to a Registered Nurse. I have recently received training on being a nursing assistant and will sit for the state certification exam in about one month. As part of my CNA training we did onsite training at Burien Nursing and Rehabilitation and I really enjoyed my time there and decided to look into a way to utilize my training and knowledge while also attending school toward my RN (which led me to posting on this site). Prior to returning to school for nursing I worked as a nanny after completing my undergraduate degree so I have always had jobs that focused on care giving (perhaps it's genetic--my mother is a nurse as well) and have found them to be very fulfilling. My favorite part of working as a care giver are the relationships formed with another family or community that I might not have met otherwise. **I was required to complete a background check for my clinical training in Burien and it came back all clear but I am definitely willing to undergo the site sponsored background check if you are interested in hiring me**

Will complete a nursing assistant training course on August 18, 2017 and then will sit for the state certification exam in mid-September. My course covered working with patients who have a variety of illnesses or injuries, infection control protocols/procedures and essential skills (bathing, dressing, feeding, measuring vitals, range of motion exercises, etc) needed to provide quality care. I also had 40-hours of onsite, hands-on clinical training at Burien Nursing and Rehabilitation in Burien, Washington. I am CPR and First Aid certified.

I became a caregiver after watching my step-mother take care of her mother, I wanted to help people both physically and mentally the same way my step-mother did. I like being a caregiver mainly because of the actual part of giving care, whether it be helping somebody get dressed or just spending time with somebody. I enjoy helping people feel as independent as they can while I help them. I am proud that I have been able to grow with this line of work, becoming an assertive, social human being that enjoys giving care to a variety of different people whether they have cancer, a broken hip, or just can't remember how to get dressed for the day. I am interested in becoming a massage therapist and once that happens I hope to stay mainly with elderly people, I enjoy massage and believe it is a great alternative to relieve pain. Also I enjoy reading, writing, nature, animals and I recently started to relearn how to play the guitar.
