About Julia

I became a caregiver out of a desire in my heart to help those in need that did not always have the opportunity to help themselves because of their own situation. I am passionate about jobs of human service, I have been committing my time recently in only pursuing that type of work. I have experience working as a live in-nanny, a caretaker in assisted living, a hostess in a restaurant and have always longed to care for those around me. I enjoy being a caregiver because it is incredibly fulfilling to commit a large amount of my time taking care of someone else's needs and putting them above my own at times. It is a great practice and learning experience of patience, dealing with emotions you don't normally encounter and being compassionate toward another human being. I am a very positive person who has tries to face every day by seeing what new opportunities I can learn and grow in throughout the day. I am very willing and able to approach any task, chore or new routine with an open mind and to work through it with the person I am caring for. In my free time I enjoy social dancing (lindy hop, blues, fusion dance), reading and travel. I desire to learn more languages so I think having a sense of internationality especially in a city like Seattle can help that immensely. I currently speak a small amount of Dutch from a year abroad in the Netherlands and want to learn Spanish in the near future.

I was a caregiver delegated out by an agency and worked with many different clients with many different needs involved with their cases. I worked extensively with two individuals long term and have experience with all home care/DAL tasks as well as experience working with those who are quadriplegic, those living with cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimers, dementia. I am intentional with putting my whole self into my work and being a positive force in the lives of others. I want to help others get to where they want to be by meeting them where they are at. I am focused on compassionate, open-minded and willing care.

We were responsible for taking care of one or several of the residents at a time. They were levels 1-8, 1 being very functional and able to take care of themselves primarily and 8 was needing a lot more assistance because they were on hospice, had dementia/Alzheimers or needed a large amount of assistance with every basic need. We assisted with personal hygiene care, mobility assistance and monitoring, feeding care, dressing, toileting, hoyer lifts, transferring and any other need they had. It was also our responsibility to assist with the cleanliness of each resident's personal apartment, the cleanliness of the residents whole home and dining room and served at meal times.

I became a caregiver because I like helping people and is also a good job when you move from a foreign country. Being a caregiver brings lots of new experiences and chalenges every day. It also asks responsibility. Being in a position to take the best decision in the fastest time made me be more responsible and it also made me realize that I can do more than I ever thought I'm capable of. In the place where I am working I am very appreciated and families like me, and also the management, I'm proud of that. a couple of months ago I became the employee of the month, that's encouraging. I'm a always happy person, ready to always to the things I have to.

Hi there! My name is James and I became a CNA after attending the accredited program at South Seattle College in 2014. I get joy and a sense of fulfillment when working with people and helping them to accomplish their goals. Since becoming a CNA, I have continued with school and I have completed my Associates of Science. While working, I have obtained Certifications for Dementia Care and Nurse Deligation. Before becoming a CNA, I was a Commercial Diver that traveled all over. I have been to most of the Americas and a little bit of Europe. I have a story for just about every conversation! I find that older folks have some really interesting things to share, if one is willing to listen a bit. Earlier in life I was a Calvaryman in the US Army. I was able then to become a Combat Life Saver. That was my introduction to healthcare and I am grateful for the experience.
