About Taryn

I am a second year nursing student interested in working as a caregiver in home health. I have always been interested in science and medicine, and spent most of the last decade working as a licensed veterinary technician before finding that I enjoy caring for people just as much as pets! My volunteer work at Bailey-Boushay House, a facility designed to serve patients with HIV/AIDS that also provides end of life care for patients with ALS, MS, Huntington's, and other complex neurodegenerative diseases, was my main inspiration for pursuing a nursing career and I feel a strong connection to providing people with realistic, holistic, individual-centered end of life care. I returned to school in 2015 and am working toward my expected graduation from the Associate Degree Nursing Program in June 2018. It is my eventual goal to work with Doctors Without Borders or other humanitarian relief services to provide care in areas that need it the most.

As a Certified Nursing Assistant with ten plus years of experience, I enjoy getting to know people and contributing to their lives in a positive way. I do not shy away from working with various health issues. Most importantly, I want clients and their families to feel that they have received their money's worth when I have finished for the day. I reside in Seattle and am seeking local clientele. References from current and former clients are available upon request.

What a great caregiver means to me is to be able to show empathy and compassion toward the clients and families that I work with. By taking the time to fully understand my patient's needs and giving them the patience to work through their rehabilitation at their own pace, I show them that I care about them and that I want to do what I can to help them. I become a caregiver because I enjoy working with people. I love helping the individuals and their families to create the tailored care that is needed. I also enjoy working with the elderly in overcoming the difficulties associated with their health issues and helping them maintain their highest level of Activities Daily Living. The most satisfying part about being a caregiver is knowing that my clients and I foster a bond that makes me feel like a part of their family. In addition, the trust that my client's family put in me to ensure that their love ones are safe and taken care of is quite rewarding. I know how it helps the family feel at ease. One of my personally favorite achievements I'm proud of was helping one of my post-surgery clients at home with PT and OT; and enabling her to walk with a cane again instead of being restricted to a wheelchair.
