I am a second year nursing student interested in working as a caregiver in home health. I have always been interested in science and medicine, and spent most of the last decade working as a licensed veterinary technician before finding that I enjoy caring for people just as much as pets! My volunteer work at Bailey-Boushay House, a facility designed to serve patients with HIV/AIDS that also provides end of life care for patients with ALS, MS, Huntington's, and other complex neurodegenerative diseases, was my main inspiration for pursuing a nursing career and I feel a strong connection to providing peopl e with realistic, holistic, individual-centered end of life care. I returned to school in 2015 and am working toward my expected graduation from the Associate Degree Nursing Program in June 2018. It is my eventual goal to work with Doctors Without Borders or other humanitarian relief services to provide care in areas that need it the most. ... more
