I came from a family of thirteen. I started caregiving for my younger siblings. My first job at twelve was taking care of a senior in her home. My senior year of high school, I worked in a nursing home. I then got married and raised three sons. I managed apartments for ten years. I was in the newspaper business for twelve years. I worked for Washington state four years. Nothing compares to the satisfaction I get when I'm helping people who really need me. I know I make a difference for them as I can see the relief they feel when I walk in the door. A caregiver has to be a lot of things. Each client requires something different. I give my residents all they need and more. I make them feel safe and that they can trust me. I love the challenge of each situation. I feel I'm getting a free education as this age group has a wealth of knowledge and wisdom. I've learned so much. I have been caregiver of the year twice, which lets me know others see my skills and appreciate them also. I'm a certified nursing assistant. I live on Harstene Island.
