Companionship is such an important part in care because a real human connection helps with mental and emotional well being. Taking care of physical well being is incredibly important but is only half the job. I learned this while caring for my grandmother near the end of her life. My experience started with her and moved on to caring for a wonderful woman named Majorie until she had to go into assisted living. Hi everyone! My name is Brittany. I'm 21 years old, and I've been caregiving for about 4 years now. I began working in the care field when my grandma required help after a fall that broke her hip. I moved in with her, assisting with all ADLs. During this time, I also began caregiving for a paraplegic man at night and on the weekends. Eventually I moved in with him so I could be of assistance at all times of the day. When this job ended for me, I began working my first facility caregiving job at The Beehive. My favorite part of being a caregiver is bonding with my residents and doing everything in my power to make their day great. I'm often complimented on my even temper and patience. I always treat my residents with respect and I feel that I am respected more by them because of it.
